EU Responds to US Tariffs with Bold Countermeasures
In a decisive move, the European Commission has announced the implementation of countermeasures against the United States, targeting US goods exports with a potential value of up to €26 billion. This action comes in response to the United States' imposition of 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports globally.

The Commission has declared that the current suspension of tariffs on US imports will end on April 1. Furthermore, a new package of countermeasures on US exports is set to be effective from April 13, as detailed in a press release by the EC.
"The European Union must act to protect consumers and business," stated EC President Ursula von der Leyen. She emphasized that the countermeasures, while strong, are proportionate, matching the economic scope of the US tariffs. Von der Leyen also reaffirmed the EU's openness to dialogue, highlighting the importance of resolving the trade dispute amicably.
