Adani Airports Embrace Digital Transformation
Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram International Airports have recently joined the Adani Airports Holdings Ltd (AAHL) network in offering the DigiYatra option, making all seven operational airports under AAHL now equipped with this innovative technology. Jeet Adani, Director of AAHL, highlighted the significant increase in DigiYatra adoption, with utilization rates soaring up to 37% in a single day at some airports.

The DigiYatra initiative is designed to offer passengers a seamless, paperless travel experience by utilizing facial recognition technology. This not only enhances passenger convenience and security but also contributes to ecological sustainability by eliminating the need for physical documents. The technology ensures a smoother journey by reducing wait times and adding an extra layer of security through biometric verification.
Record-Breaking Adoption Rates
On January 20, the Mumbai airport witnessed a record 37% of passengers utilizing DigiYatra, marking the highest single-day usage among AAHL airports. The upcoming Navi Mumbai airport is set to extend DigiYatra services from the airport entry to the boarding gate, promising an even more streamlined experience for travelers. AAHL reports a consistent month-on-month growth of 14% in DigiYatra usage over the past nine months, with an average of 25% to 30% of passengers opting for this digital solution across its airports.
Future-Ready Airport Operations
In a move to further enhance airport management, AAHL partnered with Thales last October to deploy an innovative Airport Operation Control Centre (APOC) across all its airports. This cloud-based Smart Digital Platform aims to optimize airport operations, security, and passenger experience by leveraging automation, big data analytics, and AI algorithms. The APOC solution anticipates and mitigates unplanned resource shortages, thereby improving predictability and overall efficiency.
