Canada's United Steelworkers Union Reacts to Trump's Tariffs

In a bold statement released on Tuesday, Canada's United Steelworkers union (USW) voiced strong opposition to what they termed as US President Donald Trump's "reckless trade war". This comes in response to the US government's decision to impose a hefty 50% tariff on steel and aluminum imports from Canada.

Call for Immediate Government Action

"The USW is calling on the federal government to take immediate and aggressive action in response," the statement emphasized. The union is advocating for Canada to prioritize domestic procurement and invest in the future of its steel and aluminum industries. "No more half-measures. No more waiting. Workers deserve real protection and they need it now," the statement concluded, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
