Federal Reserve Chair Powell Advocates for Patience in Interest Rate Adjustments

Powell Advocates for Patience in Monetary Policy Adjustments

In a recent Monetary Policy Forum in New York, United States Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell emphasized the importance of patience in adjusting current monetary policies. Powell stated, "We do not need to be in a hurry, and are well positioned to wait for greater clarity," highlighting the Fed's stance on extending policy restraint if the economy remains strong without inflation moving sustainably towards the 2% target.

Powell also addressed the high level of uncertainty surrounding US President Donald Trump's economic policies and their potential effects. He disclosed that the Federal Reserve is closely monitoring inflation expectations, acknowledging that some short-term measures have increased, partly due to tariffs. However, he reassured that longer-term expectations remain stable and aligned with the target, indicating a cautious yet optimistic outlook for the economy.
