Infosys Implements 'System Intervention' to Enforce 10-Day Office Work Policy

Infosys' New Office Attendance Mandate

Infosys, India's second-largest software services firm, has introduced a new policy requiring its technology staff to work from the office for at least 10 days each month. This move aims to increase on-campus attendance and foster better team collaboration while maintaining workplace flexibility.

Infosys' new work-from-office policy

System Interventions to Limit Work-From-Home Days

Starting March 10, 2025, Infosys will implement system interventions to limit the number of work-from-home days employees can take each month. This policy is designed to ensure compliance with the new hybrid work requirements, according to an internal email.

Impact on Employees

The directive affects staff at job level 5 (JL5) and below, including team leaders, software engineers, and consultants. Employees failing to meet the office attendance requirement may face deductions from their leave allocation. However, positions at JL6 and above are exempt from this mandate.

Concerns and Comparisons

Some employees have expressed concerns about the potential impact of reduced remote work on their productivity and well-being. In comparison, Infosys' competitor, TCS, links employees' variable compensation to their adherence to a five-day office attendance policy.

Shift Towards Office-Based Work

This policy shift comes as tech firms, including Infosys, aim to strengthen workplace culture and address concerns over employee moonlighting. Infosys launched its return-to-office initiative in November 2023, designating specific weeks for in-person collaboration.
