In a strategic move to capture the burgeoning branded spices market, Gemini Edibles and Fats India, a leading name in sunflower oil, has joined forces with Sree Annapoorna Foods, a renowned masala brand. This partnership heralds the formation of GEF Foods India, a joint venture poised to make significant inroads into the southern Indian market.

Akshay Chowdhry, group vice-president of Gemini Edibles and Fats India, shared ambitious plans for the venture, aiming for a revenue target of Rs 1,000 crore over the next five years. With an initial investment of Rs 70 crore, the company expects to generate Rs 100 crore in its first year, with rapid growth anticipated thereafter. The brand's expansion strategy includes extending its footprint from Tamil Nadu to other southern states such as Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala.

Vijay Prasad, managing partner of Sree Annapoorna Foods and CEO of GEF Foods India, revealed plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh with a daily capacity of 100 tonnes. This move complements their existing facility in Coimbatore, which currently operates at 45%-50% of its 30-tonne daily capacity.
