The total number of unemployed individuals slightly increased to 2,989,000, up by 5,000 from the previous month. However, this number is lower than what many analysts had anticipated. Compared to February of the previous year, unemployment has risen by 175,000, indicating a challenging year for the job market.
Underemployment Statistics
Underemployment, which includes both unemployment and short-term incapacity to work, was reported at 3,731,000 or 7.9%. This figure saw a minor increase of 2,000 from January and a significant rise of 94,000 compared to February 2024, highlighting the ongoing struggles within the labor sector.
