Widespread Disruptions Affect Major UK Banks
On a crucial payday morning, several leading UK banks faced significant online banking disruptions, leaving countless customers unable to access their funds. Reports flooded service outage tracker Downdetector, highlighting issues with Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, TSB, Nationwide, and First Direct.
Nationwide and First Direct Respond to the Crisis
Nationwide addressed the situation by confirming delays in some payments, though it reassured customers that direct debits and standing orders were not impacted. The bank emphasized that all transactions were queued and would be processed shortly. First Direct also acknowledged the problems, noting that both its online and mobile banking platforms were affected, which in turn impacted payments.
Efforts to Resolve the Issue
Lloyds Banking Group, the parent company of Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, issued an apology for the inconvenience caused and stated that it is actively working to resolve the issue. Similarly, TSB confirmed that it is making efforts to restore its services as quickly as possible.
