Arm Holdings Unveils Its Own Chip with Meta as First Customer

In a significant development for the tech industry, Arm Holdings is preparing to launch its very own chip this year. This cutting-edge central processing unit (CPU) is specifically designed for servers in large-scale data centers. The Financial Times reported on Thursday that Meta Platforms has been secured as an initial client, marking a pivotal moment for Arm's venture into chip manufacturing.

Rene Haas, CEO of Arm, is expected to announce the company's first internally developed chip as early as this summer. The production of this innovative chip will be outsourced to an external manufacturer, with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) speculated to be the likely candidate. This move signifies Arm's ambitious step into the competitive chip-making industry, promising to bring new advancements to data center technologies.
