Apple Eyes Indonesia for New iPhone Assembly Plant Amid Sales Ban

Apple Inc. Plans to Establish iPhone Assembly Unit in Indonesia

In a strategic move to circumvent a sales ban, Apple Inc. is reportedly in talks to open a final assembly unit for iPhones in Indonesia. This initiative comes in response to Indonesia's regulation that mandates at least 35% of smartphone components to be locally manufactured, a requirement the iPhone 16 failed to meet.

Preparations Underway for Apple's Indonesian Venture

One of Apple's iPhone assemblers has already set up a subsidiary in Batam, initiating the hiring process for engineers in anticipation of the tech giant's arrival. The construction of a new facility, contingent on the finalization of the deal, is expected to commence shortly, with completion projected in over a year.
