During a recent event in Paris, Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, acknowledged DeepSeek's AI model as "the best work" emerging from China. He highlighted the Chinese firm's "extremely good engineering" capabilities that have the power to "change things on a geopolitical scale."

However, Hassabis also pointed out that the model, while impressive, does not introduce any "actual new scientific advance." He noted that it was developed using known techniques, suggesting that the hype surrounding it might be slightly overblown.
