Wall Street Sees Extended Losses as Dow Dives

On Friday, Wall Street witnessed a significant downturn, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunging more than 400 points. This drop was fueled by fresh concerns over the Trump administration's tariff policies, including threats to impose reciprocal duties on trading partners. Amidst these developments, investors also processed the latest jobs report, which revealed that the US added 143,000 nonfarm payrolls in January, falling short of analysts' expectations.

Market Indices and Currency Movements

By 2:11 pm ET, the Dow Jones had slid 0.92%, equivalent to a 410-point drop. The Nasdaq 100 wasn't spared, plummeting 1.21% by 2:13 pm ET, while the S&P 500 also saw a decline of 0.92% at the same time. In currency markets, the euro weakened against the dollar, losing 0.56% to trade at 1.03314 by 2:17 pm ET.
