Wall Street's Pre-Market Session Sees Sharp Declines

As the new week began, Wall Street's major stock indexes experienced significant downturns during the pre-market session. Investors, still reeling from the recent AI race disruptions, faced new challenges with the latest economic policy decisions from President Donald Trump. Over the weekend, tariffs of 25% were imposed on Mexico and Canada, alongside a 10% tariff on China, further intensifying trade tensions.

By 4:42 am ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures had dropped by 1.35%, or 600 points. Similarly, Nasdaq 100 futures saw a decrease of 1.78%, or 380 points, and S&P 500 futures fell by 1.61%. Concurrently, the euro weakened against the dollar, trading 1.26% lower at 1.02414 by 4:44 am ET.
