In an unexpected turn of events, Tokyo's Ku-area witnessed its annual inflation rate climb to 3.4% in January, a significant increase from December's 3%, as reported by the Statistics Bureau of Japan this Friday.

Core CPI Sees Slight Increase

The Consumer Price Index (CPI), excluding fresh food and energy, also saw a minor uptick, moving from 1.8% last month to 1.9%. Similarly, the CPI excluding only fresh food rose to 2.5%, up from the previous month's 2.4%.
