India Aims to Become the Global Leader in Supplying Skilled Manpower

India's Strategic Move to Dominate Global Manpower Supply

In an ambitious move to address the global demand for skilled labor, the Indian government is focusing on skilling and job creation as a major theme in the upcoming Budget. This initiative aims not only to fill critical gaps in the domestic market but also to position India as a leading supplier of skilled manpower worldwide.

Government looks to position India as manpower supplier to world

With a young population, India is uniquely positioned to supply skilled workers to countries like Romania, Finland, Russia, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and UAE, where the aging population is creating a demand for young, skilled labor. The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has already placed nearly 60,000 young men and women in countries including Japan, Germany, Israel, UK, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.

Boosting Domestic and International Demand

The government's focus on skilling is expected to boost both domestic and international demand for Indian workers. By equipping blue-collar workers such as drivers, plumbers, and health workers with necessary skills, India aims to meet the labor shortages in several advanced economies.

Moreover, the promise of better wages and working conditions is encouraging many to opt for foreign language and skill development courses. Several training centers are being established to prepare the youth for jobs in Europe, Japan, and West Asia.

Challenges and Opportunities Ahead

While the official unemployment rate in India is low, critics argue that the problem is more acute than it appears. The government is thus exploring new areas to promote jobs, including the use of technology and equipment in various sectors from construction to AI. The upcoming Budget is expected to introduce measures to ensure a smooth rollout of these initiatives, aiming to enhance women's participation in the economy and revamp the internship scheme for better outcomes.
