CHENNAI: A New Chapter for Sridhar Vembu and Zoho Corp

In a significant shift within Zoho Corp, Sridhar Vembu has announced his decision to step down as CEO, transitioning to a new role as chief scientist. This move is aimed at allowing Vembu to dedicate his full attention to the research and development of artificial intelligence (AI) products, alongside his personal mission focused on rural development.

Vembu expressed his thoughts on the matter, stating, "In view of the various challenges and opportunities facing us, including recent major developments in AI, it has been decided that it is best that I should focus full time on R&D initiatives, along with pursuing my personal rural development mission." He has been vocal about the potential economic disruption AI could bring, especially within the software industry, emphasizing the need for Zoho to reinvent itself to sustain longer.

Leadership Transition at Zoho Corp

Following Vembu's transition, Zoho Corp will see a reshuffling in its leadership roles. Co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey has been named group CEO, with Tony Thomas taking the helm at Zoho US and Rajesh Ganesan leading the ManageEngine division. This restructuring aims to ensure Zoho Corp remains at the forefront of innovation and continues to thrive in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
