India and Indonesia Explore Defense Collaboration

In a significant move to bolster defense ties, India is considering extending a Line of Credit to Indonesia for the purchase of BrahMos missiles. This development came to light during the summit between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Subianto, acknowledging the importance of local defense production capabilities, praised India's advancements in this sector. The discussions also highlighted the potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation through the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC).

Strengthening Defense and Strategic Partnerships

Following the summit, Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Adm Muhammad Ali visited the BrahMos facility for detailed discussions. The visit underscored the mutual interest in strengthening defense and strategic partnerships, with a particular focus on the supersonic weapon system.

Both leaders also sent a clear message to Pakistan, emphasizing the need for cooperative efforts to prevent terrorist groups from accessing safe havens and support networks, in alignment with international commitments.

Commitment to Combat Terrorism

Modi and Subianto firmly denounced terrorism in all its forms, reaffirming their commitment to combat this threat through bilateral and multilateral channels. This stance further solidifies the partnership between India and Indonesia in the global fight against terrorism.
