Patanjali Recalls 4 Tonnes of Red Chilli Powder Over Pesticide Concerns

Patanjali's Red Chilli Powder Recall: A Closer Look

In a significant move, Patanjali has announced the recall of four tonnes of its 200-gram red chilli powder packs. This decision came after the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) found the product to be non-compliant with the regulatory standards, specifically concerning the maximum permitted limit of pesticide residues.

Sanjeev Asthana, CEO at Patanjali Foods, stated, "In line with specified regulatory norms, the company has taken immediate steps to inform its distribution channel partners and released advertisements to reach out to the consumers who have purchased the product and urged to return them to the place of purchase and claim full refund." Despite the recall, the firm assures that the value and volume of the recalled product are minimal.

Patanjali Foods, known for its range of edible oils and packaged foods including biscuits, noodles, and sugar, has built its reputation on the use of natural ingredients. This incident, however, poses questions about the safety and compliance of its products with national food safety standards.
