China's Stance on Trade Surplus
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning has firmly stated that China does not intentionally aim for a trade surplus. This declaration comes in response to US President Donald Trump's threats to impose tariffs on Chinese goods, citing the trade imbalance as a primary concern. Despite these tensions, Trump expressed a preference to avoid such measures if possible.
Dialogue and Cooperation
Mao Ning emphasized the importance of dialogue and consultation between the two nations. "Despite existing differences and frictions, the vast common interests and potential for cooperation between China and the United States provide a solid foundation for strengthening our bilateral relations," Mao stated during a press briefing, as reported by the Global Times.
