Significant Safety Recall Announced by Tesla in China

In a major move, Tesla Shanghai Co. Ltd. and Tesla Motors Beijing Co. Ltd. have initiated a recall of over 1.2 million electric vehicles in China. This decision, announced by the State Administration for Market Regulation on Friday, covers both imported and domestically produced models.

Details of the Recall

The recall includes 335,716 electric vehicles, encompassing the imported Model S and Model X, along with the domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y units manufactured between July 2023 and December 2024. The primary concern revolves around potential damage to power supply components on the driving computer motherboard.

Additionally, 871,087 domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, built between January 2022 and September 2023, are being recalled due to software issues affecting the electronic power steering system.
