European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the necessity for worldwide collaboration in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) during her speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. Despite the prevailing atmosphere of intense global competition, von der Leyen advocated for a unified approach to harness the potential of AI while addressing its inherent risks.

Not a Race Against Each Other, But Against Time

"All continents must seize the opportunities presented by AI and effectively manage its risks," von der Leyen stated. She highlighted that the challenge of AI development is not a competition among nations but a race against time. The European Union is prepared to collaborate with its long-standing allies and any other nations that share common interests in this critical area.
