Dollar's Decline on the Black Market: A Shift in Global Currency Dynamics

The Unseen Side of Currency Exchange

The greenback experienced a slight decrease, selling 0.27% lower at VND25,650 in unofficial exchange points, signaling a subtle shift in the currency's strength on the black market.

Stability Amidst Fluctuation

Vietcombank maintained its rate at VND25,510, while the State Bank of Vietnam’s reference rate remained steady at VND24,341, showcasing a rare moment of stability in a volatile market.

Global Currency Trends

On the global stage, the dollar saw a mix of gains and losses. It held its ground against the yen but ended the week lower, breaking a six-week winning streak. This fluctuation comes as the world anticipates Donald Trump's presidential inauguration and seeks clarity on the future direction of U.S. economic policies.

The yen, reversing last week's decline, climbed more than 1% against the dollar this week, reaching a one-month high. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the U.S. currency against six other units, increased by 0.34% to 109.33, distancing itself from a more than two-year high observed at the week's start.
