December Sees a 0.8% Increase in German Producer Prices
According to a recent report by Destatis, Germany's statistical office, producer prices in Germany experienced a 0.8% increase in December. This marks the second consecutive annual rise since June 2023, despite a minor 0.1% dip from the previous month.
Breaking Down the Numbers
Capital goods led the charge with a 1.8% year-over-year increase, closely followed by machinery costs, which rose by 2%. Non-durable consumer goods weren't far behind, witnessing a 2.6% hike in prices. Durable consumer goods saw a more modest increase of 1%. Intermediate goods prices saw a slight 0.1% rise compared to the previous year, while energy costs decreased by 0.2% year-over-year and 0.4% from November.
