Fed's Waller Predicts Three to Four Rate Cuts in 2025 Amid Inflation Trends

Fed's Waller Eyes Rate Cuts in 2025

In a revealing interview with CNBC on Thursday, Federal Reserve Board of Governors Member Christopher Waller shared his expectations for the economy in 2025. Waller anticipates three to four rate cuts within the year, contingent on the economic data aligning with current trends.

"Should the inflation data continue on its current path, a rate cut in the first half of the year is likely," Waller stated. He expressed optimism about the December inflation figures, suggesting that inflation is returning to its expected trend.

Waller also hinted at the possibility of a rate cut as early as March, though he cautioned that unforeseen economic indicators could alter this outlook. "A March rate cut can't be ruled out, but we must remain vigilant about the data," he added.
