In a surprising turn of events, Daimler Truck AG announced a 12% decrease in group sales for the year 2024, selling 460,409 trucks and buses. This marks a notable drop from the 526,053 units sold in the previous year. However, the company has seen a silver lining with a 17% increase in battery-electric vehicle sales, reaching 4,035 units.

Regional Sales Performance

The sales figures revealed a mixed performance across different regions. Trucks Asia experienced a steep 22% decline, with 125,234 units sold. Similarly, Mercedes-Benz Trucks saw a 20% decrease, selling 126,477 units. On a brighter note, Trucks North America reported a modest 2.3% decrease, with 190,428 units sold. Daimler Buses, in contrast, enjoyed a 1.8% increase, delivering 26,646 units.

Amazon's Record Order

This sales report follows closely after Daimler Truck's announcement of a groundbreaking deal with Amazon. The e-commerce giant placed its largest-ever order for electric heavy goods vehicles, purchasing over 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks. This move underscores the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.

Despite the challenges faced in 2024, Daimler Truck's stock saw a positive uptick, advancing 2.29% to €38.48 per share at 12:31 pm ET, signaling investor confidence in the company's future, especially in the electric vehicle sector.
