Historic Partnership for Sustainable Transportation
In a groundbreaking move, Daimler AG has announced that Amazon has placed its largest-ever order for electric heavy goods vehicles, selecting over 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks. This monumental order not only marks a significant milestone for Mercedes-Benz Trucks but also sets a new standard in the pursuit of sustainable logistics solutions.
Revolutionizing Amazon's Middle-Mile Network
The deployment of these eActros 600 trucks across Amazon's middle-mile network is set to transform the way cargo containers are transported between fulfillment centers, sort centers, and delivery stations. With over 140 trucks in the UK and more than 50 in Germany, Amazon is poised to transport over 350 million packages, significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
Commitment to a Greener Future
This order comes on the heels of a successful trial of a near-series prototype at one of Amazon's logistics centers in Germany. Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Worldwide Operations Sustainability at Amazon, emphasized that this initiative is a testament to Amazon's unwavering commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Echoing this sentiment, Daimler Truck AG Chairwoman Karin Radstrom hailed the eActros 600 as a "gamechanger for sustainable transportation," showcasing the potential for innovation in the logistics sector.
