CII Unveils Ambitious 10-Point Plan to Revolutionize Ease of Doing Business in India by 2025

Streamlining Regulatory Approvals for a Competitive Edge

As the 2025-26 Union budget approaches, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has proposed a comprehensive 10-point roadmap aimed at significantly enhancing the ease of doing business (EoDB) in India. A pivotal recommendation is the integration of regulatory approvals across all levels of government through the national single window system (NSWS).

Focus on Simplification and Transparency

Chandrajit Banerjee, director general of CII, emphasizes the need for simplifying regulatory frameworks and enhancing transparency. He advocates for a reduction in compliance burdens across various sectors to boost competitiveness, economic growth, and employment generation.

Other Key Recommendations

The CII also suggests implementing time-bound approvals and grievance redressal mechanisms, enhancing court capacity for faster dispute resolution, and expanding judicial data systems to include tribunal cases. Additionally, a unified compliance framework for environmental requirements and an online integrated land authority are among the proposals to improve land access and streamline compliance.

Budget Expectations

The upcoming budget is anticipated to address economic challenges such as weak GDP growth and sluggish consumer demand. With India's economy growing by 5.4% in the July-September quarter of 2024-25, the finance ministry's pre-budget consultations aim to outline measures that will stimulate economic recovery and growth.
