India Achieves Historic Renewable Energy Milestone
In an unprecedented leap towards sustainable energy, India has added a record-breaking 30 GW of renewable energy capacity in 2024, marking a significant stride towards its ambitious goal of 500 GW by 2030. This achievement not only surpasses the previous year's addition by over 113% but also highlights the country's unwavering commitment to a greener future.
Exponential Growth in Renewable Energy
From a modest 13.75 GW in 2023 to an impressive 30 GW in 2024, India's renewable energy sector has witnessed exponential growth. New & Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi emphasized this progress, stating, "This growth underscores India's growing commitment to clean energy and its progress in building a greener future."
Strategic Goals and Future Plans
With a current renewable energy capacity of nearly 218 GW, India is on a fast track to achieving its strategic goals. The government aims to add an average of 50 GW of renewable energy capacity annually over the next six years, a critical step towards the 2030 target.
