Market Reacts to Latest Employment Figures
Following the release of the latest nonfarm employment data, which indicated a month-over-month increase of 256,000 jobs in December, major U.S. stock indices experienced significant losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.84%, or 360 points, by 8:49 am ET. Similarly, the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 saw declines of 1.11% and 1%, respectively.
