Thailand Embraces Green and Worker-Friendly Office Spaces: A Trend Set to Shape the Future

Thailand's Shift Towards Sustainable and Employee-Centric Offices

In a significant move towards sustainability and employee well-being, Thai businesses are increasingly investing in green and worker-friendly office spaces. This trend, highlighted in the latest research by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), is expected to dominate the office space market until 2028.

The Future of Work 2024 survey by JLL, which gathered insights from over 2,300 business leaders globally, reveals a clear shift towards offices that integrate technology, flexibility, and environmental consciousness.

Global Trends Influencing Thai Office Spaces

According to the survey, 65% of organizations worldwide plan to increase their investment in environmentally friendly workplaces, with 80% expecting to incorporate artificial intelligence in their offices by 2030. This global trend is mirrored in Thailand, where businesses are keen on creating 'destination workplaces' that blend advanced technology, adaptable layouts, and eco-friendly features.

Michael Glancy, managing director for Thailand and Indonesia at JLL, emphasizes the importance of this shift: "The rise in modern office buildings in Thailand marks a significant change in workplace design, offering companies the opportunity to align their office plans with employee preferences and environmental goals."

Attracting Talent Through Innovative Office Design

Thai companies are leveraging office design to attract top talent and meet sustainability objectives. Anawin Chiamprasert, Head of Research at JLL Thailand, notes: "The demand for newer, tech-friendly spaces reflects the need for offices that embody company values and enhance the staff experience."

With younger generations prioritizing green credentials in their choice of workplace, about 71% of Generation Z and Millennials consider environmental factors when selecting where to work. Stephen Taylor, managing director of Project Services at JLL Thailand, adds: "Today's offices must inspire and demonstrate environmental responsibility, beyond just providing a workspace."

This biennial survey by JLL, conducted since 2011, underscores the evolving nature of workspaces, with Thailand's office market aligning with global trends towards creating more sustainable and employee-friendly environments.
