Global Economic Growth Projection Revised Upwards
The United Nations has recently updated its World Economic Situation and Prospects report, indicating a slight increase in the global economic growth forecast for 2025 to 2.8%, up from the previous estimate of 2.7%. This adjustment reflects the economy's resilience over the past year, with a further growth projection of 2.9% in 2026.
Regional Growth Adjustments
While the economic growth prospects for the United States and China have been revised upwards to 1.9% and 4.8%, respectively, the Eurozone and Japan are expected to see slower growth rates of 1.1% and 1%. These figures represent a decrease from earlier estimates of 1.3% and 1.1% for these regions.
Outlook and Risks
The UN anticipates that global economic growth will remain subdued but stable in the near term. Despite the decline in inflation, the organization warns of potential risks that could reignite inflationary pressures, including escalating geopolitical tensions and climate shocks.
