Record Growth in Vietnam's Fruit and Vegetable Exports
Vietnam has seen a remarkable increase in its fruit and vegetable export revenue, reaching $5.6 billion in 2023, a 67% jump from the previous year. This upward trend continued into 2024, with exports climbing to $7.2 billion, as reported by Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the association, during the fifth Congress for the 2024-2029 term in Ho Chi Minh City.
Global Reach and Key Markets
With exports now reaching over 80 countries and regions, Vietnam's fruit and vegetables have found key markets in China, the US, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, the Netherlands, and Australia. The recent agreements with China, especially for 12 Vietnamese fruit items including durian, have significantly boosted export turnover.
Future Prospects and Global Demand
The association highlighted the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's projection of a growing world population, expected to reach 9-10 billion by 2030. Alongside increasing incomes, especially in traditional and large markets, the demand for fruits and vegetables is set to rise. This presents a substantial opportunity for Vietnam's fruit and vegetable industry to further expand its exports in the coming years.
