Boosted by Black Friday Sales, Australian Retail Sales Climb
In a recent report released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), it was revealed that the country's retail sales experienced a noteworthy increase of 0.8% in November compared to the previous month. This surge brought the total monthly turnover to a staggering 37 billion Australian dollars, marking a 3% rise from November 2023.
Robert Ewing, the ABS head of business statistics, highlighted the impact of Black Friday sales on this growth. "The widespread discounting and increased spending across all retail sectors during Black Friday sales events have once again demonstrated their significant influence," Ewing stated. He further noted the evolving nature of these sales, mentioning, "The appeal of Black Friday sales continues to expand, with promotional activities now spanning the entire month of November, rather than being confined to the Black Friday weekend alone."
