Germany's Stand Against Meta's Decision

Klaus Muller, the head of the German Federal Network Agency, has issued a stern warning to Meta Platforms Inc. regarding its potential discontinuation of 'fact-checkers' within Europe. Muller emphasized that while cooperation with fact-check organizations is not mandatory under the DSA, engaging in such practices significantly reduces the risk of facing sanctions within the EU.

Meta's Shift in the US

This development comes in the wake of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's announcement to phase out the 'politically biased' third-party fact-checking service in the US after nine years. The company plans to replace it with a 'community notes' system, drawing parallels to Elon Musk's X Corp.
