Unprecedented Growth in Kia's EV and SUV Sales
Kia Corporation has announced a monumental 74% increase in electric vehicle (EV) sales in the United States for the year 2024, accounting for 7% of its total sales. This surge is part of a broader success story, with SUVs making up 76% of Kia's annual sales, an 8% growth from the previous year.
Record-Breaking Achievements
The company achieved its highest annual sales in history for the second consecutive year, selling 796,488 vehicles in 2024. December alone set a monthly record with 73,303 units sold. Six models, including the EV9, Sportage, and Telluride, reached all-time annual sales records, with the EV9 experiencing an extraordinary 1,869% growth.
Leadership in the EV Market
Kia's CEO for North America and America, Seungkyu Yoon, attributed this success to the successful launch of the flagship EV9 SUV and the introduction of the Carnival hybrid powertrain. This achievement marks Kia's seventh consecutive year of retail sales growth, highlighting a strong consumer preference for its EVs and SUVs.
