Is Boeing Facing a Crisis? The Latest on Landing Gear Issues After South Korea Crash

Recent Boeing Incidents Raise Concerns

Boeing's reputation is under scrutiny once more following a tragic incident involving a Jeju Air 737-800 aircraft. The plane crashed during its landing at Muan International Airport, with initial reports pointing towards a possible landing gear failure as the cause. Authorities have also mentioned that a "bird strike" might have contributed to the accident.

Another Close Call

Just hours before the South Korea crash, a KLM Boeing 737-800 experienced a runway excursion during an emergency landing in Oslo. Fortunately, all 182 passengers and crew members escaped without injury.

A Pattern of Problems

These incidents are not isolated. From a Lufthansa Boeing 787's return to Denver due to landing gear issues to a Boeing 767 cargo plane landing in Istanbul without its front gear, Boeing's landing gear problems seem persistent. The FAA has also issued an airworthiness directive highlighting the risks of undetected cracks in the landing gear assembly, which could lead to catastrophic failures.
