Biden's Probe into China's Semiconductor Sector Shakes Asia-Pacific Markets

The Asia-Pacific markets experienced a mixed day of trading on Wednesday as investors absorbed the news of the Biden administration's probe into China's semiconductor sector.

Adding to the market's considerations were the meeting minutes released by the Bank of Japan (BoJ) and the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA).

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite index rose by 0.50% at 3:15 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite up by 0.67%. Meanwhile, Japan's Nikkei 225 fell by 0.31%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng increased by 0.98%, and South Korea's Kospi declined by 0.15%.

The Australian S&P/ASX 200 index climbed by 0.14%, while the dollar remained stable against the yen, trading at ¥157.1375 at 3:17 am CET.
