European Stocks Trade Lower on Economic Reports
On Friday, major stock exchanges in Europe opened with losses as investors focused on recent economic reports. In the United Kingdom, retail sales figures for November fell short of analyst expectations, while Germany released its producer inflation data.
The DAX dropped 0.76% at the opening bell, followed by the Euro Stoxx 50, which tumbled 0.81% at 9:00 am CET. The CAC 40 lost 0.69% at the start of the session, and the FTSE 100 declined 0.27%.
In currency trading, the euro gained 0.16% against the dollar, reaching 1.03838 at 8:58 am CET. Meanwhile, the pound remained unchanged against the greenback, trading at 1.25035.
