This surge follows the Federal Reserve's decision to cut interest rates by 25 basis points, a move that has been well-received by the markets.
Fed Chair Jerome Powell expressed optimism about the US economy's progress in 2025, further boosting investor confidence. The Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 also saw significant gains, rising 0.72% and 0.77% respectively at the same time.
In currency trading, the euro strengthened against the dollar, gaining 0.39% to trade at $1.04054 by 8:38 am ET.
