Collaboration to Develop Cutting-edge Edge AI Solutions
US and Chennai-based embedded software engineering firm EmbedUR has partnered with semiconductor company Synaptics to build Edge-based artificial intelligence (Edge AI) solutions. These companies plan to develop applications in image segmentation, facial identification, and pose estimation, aiming to build low-powered, low-latency AI processing within chips placed inside devices for applications such as smart home, driver assistance systems, medical monitoring, and industrial manufacturing.
EmbedUR has developed the Model Nova AI platform for the internet of things (IoT) ecosystem by offering pre-trained models, blueprints for real-world applications, and datasets, thereby allowing designers to deploy edge-based AI solutions with minimal AI expertise. With Synaptics’ micro controllers and processors and its models, they plan to build applications catering to businesses and consumers use cases over the next few years.
Rajesh Subramaniam, founder and chief executive of EmbedUR, said, "With Synaptics’ semiconductor expertise and our technical capabilities, we are confident in delivering solutions that meet India’s unique demands." This would make AI processing technology accessible and affordable, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises, he said.
The company has invested around Rs 100 crore as part of its Rs 500 crore investment plan over five years. Michael Hurlston, president and CEO of Synaptics, said, "Our partnership with EmbedUR reinforces our commitment to driving meaningful change in India. Together, we aim to address critical challenges, creating a long-lasting impact for businesses and individuals alike."
