US Crude Oil Inventories Drop by 0.9M Barrels as Refinery Inputs Decline

US Crude Oil Inventory Report

According to the latest report by the Energy Information Administration (EIA), commercial crude oil inventories in the United States, excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), decreased by 0.9 million barrels to 421.0 million barrels in the week ending December 13.

Refinery Inputs and Operations

Oil refinery inputs averaged 16.6 million barrels per day (bpd) during the week, a decrease of 48,000 bpd compared to the previous week's average. Refineries operated at 91.8% of their operable capacity, while gasoline production declined, averaging 9.9 million bpd.

Crude Oil Imports and Total Inventories

Crude oil imports increased by 665,000 bpd week-on-week to average 6.6 million bpd. Total commercial petroleum inventories decreased by 3.2 million barrels last week.
