Taiwanese Electronics Giant Considers Strategic Move
Foxconn Precision Industry Co. Ltd, a Taiwanese contract electronics manufacturer, is reportedly considering a bid to acquire Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor Corporation, according to the Wall Street Journal. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering Foxconn's emerging electric-vehicle business.
The potential acquisition is driven by Foxconn's interest in Nissan's expertise in car manufacturing and design. Notably, the discussions are facilitated by Jun Seki, a former Nissan executive who now serves as Foxconn's chief strategy officer for its electric vehicle division.
This development comes on the heels of previous reports suggesting Nissan's negotiations with Honda about a potential merger, with Mitsubishi Motors also reportedly planning to join the deal.
