Walmart China Joins Forces with Meituan to Boost E-commerce Growth

Walmart China has announced a strategic partnership with Meituan, China's largest food delivery company, aiming to accelerate its e-commerce business.

This collaboration, as revealed in a WeChat post by Walmart China, will connect its stores to Meituan's delivery ecosystem, enhancing its online sales which currently account for nearly half of its China sales.

In addition to its Walmart stores, the company has also opened 50 Sam's Club stores in China, catering to the growing trend of Chinese consumers preferring membership stores.

This move comes after Walmart sold its stake in Chinese e-commerce firm JD.com in August, signaling a shift in focus towards its own operations in the country.
