MicroStrategy Adds 15,350 Bitcoins to Its Holdings
MicroStrategy Incorporated has made a significant move in the cryptocurrency market by acquiring an additional 15,350 Bitcoins for a staggering $1.5 billion. This acquisition, detailed in a recent Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, took place between December 9 and December 15, with an average purchase price of approximately $100,386 per Bitcoin.
The funding for this substantial purchase was facilitated through "proceeds from the issuance and sale of Shares under the Sales Agreement," as stated by MicroStrategy. As of December 16, the company's total Bitcoin holdings have reached an impressive 439,000 Bitcoins. The total cost incurred for these assets amounts to about $27.1 billion, reflecting an average price of $61,725 per Bitcoin, inclusive of fees and expenses.
This latest acquisition follows the announcement by Nasdaq that MicroStrategy will be included in the Nasdaq 100 index from December 23, a move that could potentially further elevate the company's status in the financial markets.
