American Express Launches Initiative for Environmental Sustainability
American Express, in partnership with Safe Water Network, has launched Programme Vasundhara, a three-year initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience in Bengaluru and Gurugram.
The initiative will prioritize water resource management, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and renewable energy across these two cities. In Bengaluru, around the Aivarakhandapura Lake, Programme Vasundhara is constructing an 18-million-liter rainwater harvesting structure to boost local water availability and reduce dependency on external sources.
In Gurugram, reforestation and ecosystem restoration in the Aravalli region will be undertaken, including planting 15,000 trees and land restoration across 10,000 hectares. Sanjay Khanna, CEO and Country Manager of American Express India, emphasized the company's commitment to creating a positive impact on communities and the environment through this programme.
