Google Fined in Turkey

Turkey's Competition Authority Slaps Google with a $75 Million Fine

In a recent development, Turkey's competition authority has imposed a hefty fine of 2.61 billion lira ($75 million) on Alphabet Inc.'s Google. This penalty comes as a result of Google's alleged exploitation of its dominant position in the ad server services market, according to a statement released by the regulator on Friday.

The antitrust body has accused Google of favoring its own supply-side platform (SSP) service over its competitors, thereby making it difficult for rival operations to thrive. The regulator has mandated that Google must ensure within six months that competitors are not disadvantaged and must provide third-party SSPs with similar conditions that are applied to its own services.
