Spain's Consistent Inflation at 2.4% Celebrated by ECB's Escriva

European Central Bank (ECB) member and the newly appointed Governor of the Bank of Spain, Jose Escriva, expressed his satisfaction with Spain's latest inflation data on Friday. The data confirmed that inflation in November remained steady at 2.4%, aligning with earlier estimates.

According to Spain's National Statistics Office (INE), the annual inflation rate for November stood at 2.4%, up from October's 1.8%. On a monthly basis, prices increased by 0.2%. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) also grew by 2.4% on an annual level.

In an interview on Espejo Publico, Escriva highlighted the “success” of economic decisions, emphasizing that it is beneficial for citizens "to know that the value of their money and their purchasing power are guaranteed." Regarding the ECB's recent 25-basis-point cut, he suggested it is "logical" to anticipate further rate cuts in future monetary meetings.
