Diesel Prices Plummet to 6-Week Low Amid Global Tensions

Fuel Prices in Flux

The recent fluctuations in fuel prices have caught the attention of consumers and analysts alike. Specifically, the popular fuel RON95 has seen a modest increase, rising by 0.15% to VND20,590 (US$0.81) per liter.

In contrast, diesel prices have taken a significant dip, falling by 0.71% to VND18,250 per liter. This marks a six-week low for diesel, a trend that is likely to impact various sectors reliant on diesel fuel.

Global Factors Influencing Prices

Regulators have identified several global factors contributing to the recent volatility in fuel prices. Rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and OPEC+'s reduced oil demand growth forecast for 2025 are all playing a role.

Gasolines have experienced a slight uptick, increasing by 0.2%, while oils have seen a more substantial decline, dropping between 0.8% to 4.3% over the past week. Currently, RON95 is priced at $84.1 per barrel, and diesel at $86.9.
