SpaceX Headquarters Relocates to Starbase, Texas: Elon Musk's Bold Move

SpaceX Headquarters Officially Moves to Starbase, Texas

Elon Musk announced on social media platform X that SpaceX's headquarters will now be officially located in Starbase, Texas. This decision follows Musk's earlier declaration in July to relocate the headquarters of both SpaceX and social media platform X from California to Texas, citing the state's new gender identity law as the "last straw."

Musk's Prior Moves and Future Plans

Musk had previously indicated that SpaceX's main office would move to an existing facility in Boca Chica, Texas, while X would relocate to Austin. However, the extent of job and facility transfers from California to Texas remains unclear. Additionally, Musk transferred SpaceX's incorporation from Delaware to Texas earlier this year, mirroring a similar move for Tesla after a Delaware judge invalidated his $56-billion pay package.

Tesla's Relocation and Musk's Personal Move

In 2021, Musk moved Tesla's headquarters from California to Texas but emphasized that California would remain its engineering hub. Musk also changed his personal residence from California to Texas in the same year, taking advantage of the state's absence of individual income tax.
