NLC India Commences Commercial Operations at Ghatampur Power Project
State-run NLC India Ltd has initiated the commercial operation of the first of three 660 MW units at its Ghatampur power project in Uttar Pradesh. The project, valued at Rs 19,406 crore, is expected to significantly enhance power supply in Uttar Pradesh and Assam.
Commitment to Sustainable Energy
The Ghatampur power project showcases NLC India's dedication to meeting India's escalating power demands through advanced, energy-efficient technologies. Utilizing supercritical technology, the plant ensures reduced emissions, higher thermal efficiency, and a more sustainable energy future. Chairman Prasanna Kumar Motupalli emphasized the company's resolve to operationalize the remaining units, contributing to India's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in the energy sector.
Joint Venture and Environmental Management
Developed through a joint venture with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd, the project marks the addition of the first fossil fuel-based generation capacity in the current fiscal. This achievement elevates NLC's total installed generation capacity to 6,731 MW. The project incorporates an advanced environmental management system, featuring high-efficiency electrostatic precipitators and flue-gas desulfurization units, reflecting NLCIL's commitment to environmental and social governance principles.
